Marny Heit has worked for over 10 years as an attorney specializing in the defense of DUI and other traffic-related charges. Marny has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star by Super Lawyer Magazine and Atlanta Magazine in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. This award recognizes the Top 5% of outstanding young Georgia lawyers.
Since her admission to the Georgia Bar Association in 2001, Marny has committed her practice to the defense of DUI and traffic-related charges, and handled hundreds of DUI cases. She has conducted dozens of jury and bench trials in various courts throughout the state of Georgia. She has also handled over a dozen reported appeals in the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court.
Marny has spoken at and chaired various legal seminars, including GACDL DUI Bootcamp (2011) with the topic of Arguing Motions to Suppress, ICLE: Handling Administrative License Suspensions and Revocations (2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), GACDL Winter Seminar (2004) with the topic of DUI and License Suspensions, and DUI Case Preparation and Courtroom Procedure at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia (2004-2008).
Marny is a member of the Georgia Defense of Drinking Drivers Group, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the DeKalb County Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Cobb County Bar Association.
As a 2001 graduate of the Emory University School of Law, Marny was part of the Order of the Barristers, Order of Advocates, and a member of the Director's Board for the Emory Moot Court Society. While attending law school at Emory, Marny interned at the DeKalb County Public Defender's Office, the Capital Defender's Office of the New York Legal Aid Society in New York City, and the Federal Defender, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate degree at Syracuse University, where she graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
